Hello everyone! Do you need new clothing for school or work but don't feel like going to the mall? Online shopping is the best, I love online shopping, but many things can go wrong so here are a few tips to get what you want, sufficiently :)
O1;; Know the store's sizes.
This isn't a big thing if there are reviews but let's say the model wears an x-small...try to go from that. Be smart about it, this requires some thinking, but like if the model looks big on it and that same model was in other clothes that fit her perfectly, then it might be too big on you. Maybe they are trying to tell you to buy a size smaller because it is a bit oversized, or maybe you want it oversized because that's the style :)
O2;; Read the reviews. ALWAYS.
I know this is sort of obvious, but read reviews!! Whether there is one review, or twenty, they will ALWAYS help you. For example, in the Urban Outfitters shopping website a bunch of their clothing have reviews and also show pictures people took of how it looked on them. That helps me the most because sometimes the color is different or if someone is the exact same size as you(reviewers usually tell you their size so you can relate) then you can see how it looks on them! And you never know, sometimes a top looks really nice but then you read the reviews and they all say that it tore in like one day or it develops holes after the first wash or something like that.
O2;; Know your size.
For example, if you don't know your shoe size, like if you think you're in between a 7 1/2 and an 8, don't buy shoes online. That's too risky, ESPECIALLY if they do not accept free returns.
O3;; Don't use debit cards.
It's just not a good idea and too hard to explain. Just don't.
O4;; Check your email.
When you submitted the order, check your email. You are supposed to get a confirmation email so you know your order went in.
O5;; If something's wrong, you can talk to the customer service online! If you need help with something, I'm sure you can email someone from the shop or talk to the online services :) You can also ask me if you'd like.
O6;; Be safe.
This may sound weird but online shopping can be dangerous. They can use your email or your address for something else if you don't put it in the right place something can pop up and they can ask you to get free screensavers, but those are actually NOT free and are also NOT scam free!
O7;; Look for the lock.
Never ever, ever buy anything online using your credit card from a site that doesn't have SSL (secure sockets layer) encryption installed—at the very least. You'll know if the site has SSL because the URL for the site will start with HTTPS:// (instead of just HTTP://).
O8;; Check statements.
Don't just wait for the bill at the end of the month and the bag to come to your home with your new clothing. Go online to the website every once and a while and make sure your order number wasn't changed and also you should try tracking your order a few times to make sure it's not late or anything because sometimes they can give you a discount if it is(although sometimes they don't tell you when it's going to arrive so you don't know if it's late or not). Look at the electronic statements for your credit card and make sure your order was not just fraudulently charged, because then they may cancel your card.
Okay now here's some special tricks I use when I shop online! Please don't get mad if you think my personal tricks are bad or whatever, they actually work and if you don't agree, you obviously don't have to keep reading...just leave before you reach the comment box, okay?
♥ Most online shopping stores have clothing that is "online only" or have deals that are only for people who shop online, so I would recommend taking advantage of that type of stuff. My favorite part of shopping online, is the techniques the stores have for you to use. Like if you want to buy a top but you want a really cheap top, whether or not it is on the sale page, there is a bar at the top where you can press that you want to see the tops going from cheapest to most expensive or most expensive to least. If you're on a budget, find the bar and press least to most (or on UO it says "price" and then an arrow pointing up) and then don't even bother scrolling anymore if it's a top above 40 bucks. Don't get your hopes up on something you like but don't wanna spend the money on, it's not worth it! Then do the same thing in the other categories and in the sale and in the good deals and in clearance. Just basically rade the whole website for cheap stuff. You can find tops for 2.99 on Forever 21 if you do this.
♥ Look for coupons on other websites that you can get for free, but not scams!
♥ I love doing this. I put whatever crap I like in my shopping bag, I mean, who is going to stop me? And basically don't really think too much except to see that I like it and that I have already read the reviews and made sure that I will like it, and then just press add to shopping bag. When I get to my shopping bag, I obviously am not gonna buy everything I got, so I just limit it down little by little until I have just as much that I want. The most I would buy online at the same time is probably like eight things.
♥ Don't just buy one thing! Unless you have free shipping or a coupon, there is no point in paying shipping for just one thing. Even if you buy like a cheap little ring or something you'd wear just for fun, there has to be more than one thing you like. There is no point in buying a 4 dollar necklace and then pay like twice that for shipping...so buy something else or don't buy anything! :)
♥ lol ok last tip, do NOT press the submit order button more than once.
That's all, I hope this tip benefits you guys :)
